Michele Gamba

Michele Gamba is an Italian conductor and pianist, active in both the symphonic and operatic repertoire.

He has already conducted in all major theatres in Europe, such as the Berlin State Opera, London Covent Garden, Milan La Scala, Capitole de Toulouse, São Carlos in Lisbon and has led many prestigious symphony orchestras like the Orchestra Nazionale della RAI, Tokyo Symphony, Duisburg Philharmoniker and the Staatskapelle Berlin.

As a pianist, he has played as soloist and chamber music partner at London Wigmore, Queen Elizabeth and Royal Festival Hall, Munich Gasteig, Milan La Scala and Società del Quartetto.

Born in Milan, he studied piano and composition at Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi and graduated in Philosophy at the State University. At the same time, he followed chamber music and piano masterclasses with Maria Tipo at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, and studied Lieder Repertoire and Conducting at the Musikhochschule in Vienna, the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and the Royal Academy in London.
